What is Terraria?

Terraria is a 2D action-adventure sandbox by Re-Logic where you dig, explore, build and battle your way through a procedurally generated world full of bosses.

What can you do on a Terraria server?

Work through the bosses together, run a modded tModLoader playthrough, or host a public TShock community server with server-side characters and anti-cheat.

How much RAM does a Terraria server need?

Terraria servers start at 1 GB, and the configurator suggests 2 GB. Large modded worlds on tModLoader benefit from more.

Vanilla, tModLoader or TShock: which should I pick?

Vanilla is the official unmodified server. tModLoader runs mods, and players need tModLoader too. TShock adds server-side characters, anti-cheat and admin tools while working with vanilla Terraria clients.

How do players join?

Choose Multiplayer, Join via IP, then enter yourname.play.octopuscloud.org, the port from your dashboard and the server password.

Can mobile players join?

Yes. Crossplay lets PC and mobile players join the same server, except on tModLoader servers, which need the PC tModLoader client.

Can I upload my own world?

Yes. Upload your world file through the control panel's file manager or SFTP.

I've never run a Terraria server before. Can you help if I get stuck?

Yes. Email support@octopuscloud.org (we aim to reply within a few hours) or ask in our Discord community. Your dashboard shows everything players need to connect, and the control panel gives you a live console, file manager and backups.

Can I change my plan or upgrade later?

Yes. Change RAM, storage, backups, the CPU boost, the hardware tier or the billing cycle from your dashboard. Upgrades apply immediately with a prorated charge; downgrades take effect at the end of your billing period. Switching between DDR4 Budget and DDR5 Premium moves your server to the new hardware for you.

How do I create a Terraria server?

Pick Vanilla, tModLoader or TShock above, choose RAM and hardware, and check out. Your server is set up automatically, and you'll find its address, port and password on your dashboard.

How long does setup take?

Setup starts automatically right after checkout. The first start downloads the Terraria server files, so it can take several minutes before players can join; you can follow the progress in the control panel console.

Can I get my money back if I don't like my server?

Payments are generally non-refundable, except where required by law. There's no contract: cancel anytime from your dashboard and keep your server until the end of the period you've paid for. If you think you were charged in error, email support@octopuscloud.org and we'll review it in good faith.

What happens if I cancel?

Your server keeps running until the end of your paid period. After that we keep it and its backups for 30 days, and you can still download your files. Resubscribe within that window and everything is restored as it was. After 30 days it's permanently deleted.
