Freelancer server hosting

Freelancer is a space trading and combat game from 2003, developed by Digital Anvil and published by Microsoft, set in the Sirius sector. Its multiplayer community is still active today.

Run a private universe for friends, a community server on the global server list (GUN), or a Discovery server, the long-running community mod focused on roleplay and trading.

Freelancer servers start at 1 GB. Add more for bigger groups or the Discovery mod.

Vanilla is the original Freelancer experience. Discovery is a large community mod. You can switch later in Startup settings, but switching reinstalls the server and removes the old game files.

Players need their own copy of Freelancer, plus the Discovery mod for Discovery servers. Your server is also added to the global server list (GUN), provided by www.fllistserver.com, so players can find it there. Share the password from your dashboard, or give players the server address and port to connect directly.

Yes. Email support@octopuscloud.org (we aim to reply within a few hours) or ask in our Discord community. Your dashboard shows everything players need to connect, and the control panel gives you a live console, file manager and backups.

Yes. Change RAM, storage, backups, the CPU boost, the hardware tier or the billing cycle from your dashboard. Upgrades apply immediately with a prorated charge; downgrades take effect at the end of your billing period. Switching between DDR4 Budget and DDR5 Premium moves your server to the new hardware for you.

Pick Vanilla or Discovery above, choose RAM and hardware, and check out. Your server is set up automatically, and you'll find its address, port and password on your dashboard.

Setup starts automatically right after checkout. The first start downloads the Freelancer server files, so it can take several minutes before players can join; you can follow the progress in the control panel console.

Payments are generally non-refundable, except where required by law. There's no contract: cancel anytime from your dashboard and keep your server until the end of the period you've paid for. If you think you were charged in error, email support@octopuscloud.org and we'll review it in good faith.

Your server keeps running until the end of your paid period. After that we keep it and its backups for 30 days, and you can still download your files. Resubscribe within that window and everything is restored as it was. After 30 days it's permanently deleted.
